DESIGN
The original concept, styles, layout and system
designs are by Captain Graham Pfister an Australian electronics
engineer, now resident in Canada. His catamaran experience commenced
in Australia in the early 1960's cruising and racing catamarans with catamaran
pioneer Lock Crowther.
He designed and
built power catamarans in Australia in the late 1970's with a range
of 20' models used for fishing and SCUBA diving. He was a Captain
in the coastal rescue service in Australia, often putting out into
southern ocean storm seas and for which he was voted Rescue Captain
of the Year in 1979. He built and cruised his 33' x 22' catamaran,
"Quiet Achiever", from Australia via the
Indian Ocean, Red and Mediterranean Seas and the Atlantic Ocean to
the Caribbean where he sold his boat and became a charter boat captain.
For five years he operated charter boats giving him valuable experience
in this most demanding of boating areas.
He holds a 500 ton Unlimited Masters License and was, amongst others,
Captain of a 103' x 37' luxury power catamaran that he kept in Lloyds
Class Survey operating it in the Middle East and Mediterranean.
He has captained many other luxury motor yachts for the "rich
and famous" in exotic and primitive parts of the world including
a 30 metre Broward in Japan, a 27 metre Guy Couch in Israel and throughout
the Med., a 27 metre Italian built Allalunga in Egypt and a 45 metre
Feadship, often considered by many to be the "Rolls Royce"
of motor yachts, on the U.S.A. East coast. He was a founding member
of the Professional Yachtsmen's Association while based in Antibes
in the South of France where he became very familiar with many of
the worlds largest, most luxurious and complex super yachts. His last
command before retiring from the sea in 1996 was as Captain of the
105', triple engine, Italian built motor yacht "Ivana"
for Ivana Trump, based near her winter home in Palm Beach, Florida.

After a 35 year association with boats and
the sea he brought his unique knowledge of design, construction and maintenance,
along with his wealth of "hands on professional operating experience"
to TrawlerCat Marine as its founder, designer and driving force. No one
else in the power catamaran industry has such a diverse amount of knowledge.
This diverse knowledge is what has made TrawlerCat Marine's power catamaran
designs so unique, sets them apart from all other power catamarans and
allows TrawlerCat Marine to honestly state, "Nobody knows more
about power catamarans than we do".
TrawlerCat
Marine's power catamarans range in size from their 45' Cruiser and
Voyager to luxury, custom built, super cats up to 110'. All our models now feature
wave piercing bows for increased performance and comfort. TrawlerCat's
power catamarans have many unique features and not least is the fact
that all our fiberglass TrawlerCat's are
UNSINKABLE. This is substantiated by our design and construction
method of using closed cell foam panels for their lightweight, toughness
and positive floatation. Each hull is divided into four watertight
compartments that includes two collision bulkhead compartments in
the bow of each hull, making eight watertight hull areas in all. Each
hull sole is divided into separate watrtight compartments
providing a true double hull bottom for added safety and increased
flotation. Finally there are watertight compartments in the area running
the full length of the boat between the underneath deck and the main
deck level above. These watertight areas have been calculated
to provide enough positive flotation to compensate for the weight
of the boat and its equipment making it UNSINKABLE.
Our minimum design criteria exceeds ABS Unrestricted Ocean Service
regulations for speeds below 31 knots and our design concepts have
been tank tested to withstand breaking beam seas twice as high
as any similar size mono-hull powerboat. This all adds up to give
you the safest boat you could ever wish to put to sea in.

NAVAL
ARCHITECTURE
The construction plans for the first two boats built and launched in Nova Scotia, Canada were engineered
by Crowther Multihull Designs of Sydney, Australia, to the drawings, styles and specifications presented
to them by Captain Pfister. They were subsequently reengineered and improvements made by Bray Yacht Design
and Research of Vancouver, BC, Canada for a 54' Voyager built in Maple Ridge.
We opened our own design office in 2001 and our own Naval Architects and our in house
Designer redesigned and upgraded all the existing models making major changes to the hull
form to improve performance and comfort. At every opportunity we continue to restyle,
reengineer and improve our designs by introducing new technology. We strive for perfection
trying to produce a very functional boat with an aesthetically pleasing style.
We recently introduced a new model, a TCM 55'x 25' EXPEDITION which
is a triple deck version of the TCM 55' Voyager. This model is now available and we have issued
quotes to two clients for the first two vessels.
TrawlerCat Marine has the in house capability to create totally
new models and designs, or make major changes, improve features and customize existing designs to
suit any client's requirements. As with any changes our engineers check for additional weight and
how it will affect the performance, draft, trim and balance of the boat.
Quality starts with our quality design.
